whistlejacket

The last time we saw Whistlejacket was when the guys opened for DIIV’s intimate post Field Day show under the railway arches in Bethnal Green – and it was bloody great. Fresh from Induro Festival in Portugal and slated to play at Secret Garden Party, the band will be headlining their own show here at The Waiting Room courtesy of Bad Vibrations. Entry is free and it takes place on the 4th of July, the holiest of holidays, so save the date! RSVP here.

Okay Kaya PLP A3WEB-1

Parallel Lines brings the heat, as always, to the Waiting Room on Monday, July 13th with the London debut of Okay Kaya. The New York-based artist who originally hails from Norway is a newcomer, one that however has not failed to see some exciting early markers of success. Having just recently signed to Hot Charity Records, the songwriter opened up for a string of North American Tobias Jesso Jr. tour dates this past spring.

We here at the Waiting Room are now truly excited to bring you the artist’s stripped down guitar and vocal-driven set. Doors are at 7:30pm and tickets will be on sale very soon.

We are so excited to announce the Waiting Room’s first time hosting Invisible City – a DJ collective headed by Idle Rich and Lizatron. The duo will be joined this time by Jake Gill, who will help deliver their unique brand of psychedelic dance music of a darker persuasion. Entry is only £3 at the door.

Ulrika Spacek & The Parrots – Thursday June 25th

Posted June 17, 2015

ulrikaspacek

Bad Vibrations is proud to present the recently formed Ulrika Spacek for their first-ever headline slot. The London band delivered a hypnotic set opening up for Doug Tuttle at the Shacklewell Arms a little while back, presenting little doubt of their capability to now deftly handle a headline set. Also playing are the highly anticipated The Parrots, a garage rock trio hailing from Madrid who “manage to capture the very essence of early noughties Indie music with such veracity that it leaves one dumbfounded and pondering whether or not time travel has actually occurred” – the405.

This one is free, so you’re welcome. But you should still grab a ticket here via Billetto. And RSVP on that Facebook thing right here.

Saturday was MASSIVE as always, with hundreds coming in through the door. If you couldn’t make it out, however, you’re in luck as Playhouse have just announced their next night on July 11th. Kicking things off this week on Monday June 15th courtesy of Baba Yaga’s Hut is Orlando – Cathy Lucas of Earth Moon Earth and Fanfarlo’s new synth-heavy project – who just released an immersive new video for her track ‘Theme For A Telepathic Amphibian’. Supporting her are Dolly Dollycore. Entry for this wonderful night is free but make sure to grab a ticket regardless right here and RSVP here.

On Wednesday, June 17th we have the Berlin-based Evvol coming in thanks to Parallel Lines. The duo, who now tour with a live drummer, are about to release their debut album Eternalism on Berlin’s !K7 Records. Support comes from London four piece Black Gold Buffalo. Tickets cost £5 and should be grabbed here. And you should RSVP to this banging show right over here.

The following day on June 18th, Alien Jams brings us Indole Records manager Jimmy Billingham who, as HOLOVR, craftily blends ambient soundscapes together with minimalist techno beats. Also on the bill is the enigmatic, London-based producer Acolytes, as well as An Trinse, capped off by the globetrotting Rosen. Advance tickets are £6 and are available right here. That lucrative Facebook event you should RSVP to is here.

Friday June 19th is the third installation of Where To Now? at the Waiting Room. This time around expect Going Good head Brian Not Brian to provide the bangers, backed up by the machines of Some Truths (aka Bass Clef‘s modular ventures), as well as the debut hardware live show of London’s Timeron. Tickets are £5 and are available on Resident Advisor. Facebook here.

Wrapping up the week on Saturday June 20th is I Need A Rhythm‘s Back to the Old Skool Classics night, showcasing iconic club hits of the late ’80’s and early ’90s. Taking place every third Saturday of the month, expect to hear some Inner City, Jomanda, Crystal Waters, Kym Sims, Nightcrawlers, Todd Terry and more. The beats run from 11 till 4am and entry is £5. I would RSVP here if I were you.
