Posted September 10, 2013

 Tickets: £5 Adv

September sees London based collective Karamel Music present their first Karamel East night at The Waiting Room in Stoke Newington. Illuminating this first Karamel, Milk & Honey are Anna Lena & the Orchids, Daniel Land and Keebo.

Anna Lena & The Orchids

Hailing from Norway, Anna Lena’s haunting vocal style has been described by UK press as ‘beautifully unique’ and ‘ethereal’, and the poetry and imagery in her lyrics show experience and conviction beyond her years. She draws influence from St. Vincent, Grizzly Bear, Radiohead, PJ Harvey and Bjork.

Whilst similarities can be observed between her and the afore mentioned acts, a mixture of folk, alternative rock and ambient musical styles create a uniquely shimmering cloud of Nordic Noir.

Daniel Land

Main man from DANIEL LAND & THE MODERN PAINTERS, the last album “The Space Between Us” is out on Club AC30 Records. A member of the band ENGINEERS, he was also in THE STEALS from 2009-2012. Daniel makes ambient records under the moniker RIVERRUN.

Daniel will be debuting songs from his forthcoming solo record. Expect an ethereal hybrid of Cocteau Twins, Sigur Ros and John Grant.

Keebo

Keebo are a 5 piece all girl band formed in 2011 in London. In their own words: psychedelic pop with a hint of African Hi Life. With a shared love for music of the 80s, from grunge to disco, they explode fragments of The Smiths, David Bryne and Tom Tom Club and more.

A fantastic year has seen them play The Great Escape, Glastonbury and recent London shows have created quite an underground buzz and a genuine excitement amongst the artist community.

“Guitar parts intertwine amongst a blissful sun-drenched pop sound that’s as easy going as it gets.” – thisisfakeDIY

“Packed with layered vocal harmonies and airy guitar lines; this track is indie girl-pop at its best” – The Tipping Point

“London’s Keebo channels portions of Warpaint’s freezing-cold guitar pop and Best Coast’s sun-blasted half-anthems.” – 32ft/second
