Pride Of Gombe with Lukid, BNJMN, Samoyed & Mr Beatnick – Friday 3 August

The Waiting Room presents a one-off (for now) opportunity to catch some of London’s most innovative and respected electronic alchemists playing records in an intimate club setting. With such a range of mercurial talents on display, we can expect to hear a wide range of fantastic, unpredictable records.
LUKID | Long associated with Werk Discs, he’s also been known to produce and DJ collaboratively as Thriller alongside label head, Actress. More recently, he’s released a brace of 12″s on his own Glum imprint, heralding a movement towards dark, techno-influenced territory, alongside the familiar downtempo excursions, and soulful influences.
BNJMN | Pushing the envelope of experimentalism within electronica, BNJMN’s soundscapes are deep, intrinsically melodic and densely layered. Intelligently referencing the early 90′s, whilst still sounding totally contemporary, the young artist deftly treads a hybrid ground between house, techno and dubstep throughout his Rush Hour released discography.
SAMOYED | Initially carving a niche in beatless, soulful sounds, Samoyed has developed an ear for a kickdrum, whilst retaining the feeling that has always been present. Most recently releasing on Glum, the sound he’s cultivated verges on ravey at times, but always as gritty and idiosyncratic as we’ve come to know and love.

MR BEATNICK | With roots in hip-hop and jazz, Mr Beatnick’s skewed take on the classic house template has won him many plaudits, notably FACT, who’ve included him in their end of year ‘Best Track’ countdowns. His releases on Semtek’s Don’t Be Afraid are essential.
